Can I have a folder in a site have different retention policy then the site?

The business is asking us to keep sites for 10 years but be able to delete one folder in one library after 2 years because it belongs to the client and they don't want their documents to stay there. Is this even doable with retention policies in SPO?

    Yes, it is possible to apply a retention label for a folder individually. Select the folder in the library and Click the "···", select Details in the expanded menu, select the retention label for 2 years deletion under Apply label.

    Will applying the label, guarantee the folder will be deleted in 2 years while the containing site will not be deleted for another 8 years?
