SSRS Export to PowerPoint issues not rendering Charts correctly - Mis-Sizing them

I am having the same issue as other users. Export to PDF or Excel renders charts correctly. But to a PowerPoint slide it does not render the charts correctly even though it all fits onto 1 slide. I have the Report Page Size set to the PowerPoint default height and width. Not sure why the charts do not render correctly. PowerPoint: User's image

Hi @LH Did your chart get bigger after exporting to Power Point? Or the size has not changed, but the page size is not large enough to display the report content, causing part of the chart content to be displayed on the next page. Power Point follows the rules of hard pagination. Hi - the chart is only 2 inches tall in the RDL. The size seems to expand on export to PowerPoint. The page size in the RDL is set to the PowerPoint standard Size. The chart renders fine in PDF and Excel The chart does not render onto a second slide. It just cuts off as shown above. I have tried making the chart smaller and different chart types and they all have the same issue on export to PowerPoint only. The only way this does not happen is if there is just the chart on one slide or just a chart and a table. It seems like the PowerPoint export cannot render a chart unless it is a minimum certain size? OR maybe the slide only contains a maximum number of objects?

Hi @LH My test report is still normal when exported to PPT. Perhaps you can change the PPTX device information settings in RSReportServer.Config for testing, just in case you can back up this file first, its path is generally "C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services\SSRS\ReportServer". https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/sql/reporting-services/pptx-device-information-settings?view=sql-server-ver16 Best regards, Aniya

HI @AniyaTang-MSFT I have developed other reports with fewer objects that export to PowerPoint without issue. How many objects do you have in your test? Here is what I have for one slide. This also has some of the objects inside rectangles.

Hi @LH Glad your problem was solved. To facilitate testing, I created a table and two charts and duplicated them to arrange them into a report.

I also tried copying them more, but when exporting to PPT, the report was only postponed to the next page, and the size did not change. Best regards, Aniya

@AniyaTang-MSFT OH wait...the issue is when I run it in VS -- when I deploy to the Report Server -- I don't have an issue with the export to PowerPoint. Interesting. I have been having a lot of problems with VS and SSRS/Data tools and this is just one more issue to report. I have tried both version 2019 and 2022. Lots of glitches.

@AniyaTang-MSFT nor is there an issue if I open the report in Report Builder and run it from there. Just that glitchy VS. Very frustrating. I wish MSFT would get to work on improving the issues in VS.

Hi @LH In fact, VS is more complete and complex, so there may be certain settings that affect the rendering of your report. If you're not designing very complex reports and don't need to create a shared data source, using Report Builder is also a good choice.
