I am looking to implement Microsoft Defender for cloud - Server Plan 2 for my windows and linux servers in azure. Does this Plan 2 includes antivirus?

    Stated another way...

    Defender for Servers, Plan 1 and Plan 2 both include Defender for Endpoint. This is Microsoft's enterprise EDR solution that does include MDAV. The client is part of the OS but you need MDE to activate, manage, and collect alerts from MDAV.

    As I understand it, the vuln scanning is part of Defender for Cloud Workload Protection, which you enable in Defender for Cloud > Getting Started. Note that this does not include Defender for Endpoint Vulnerability Scanning - you enable that through the security.microsoft.com portal > Devices menu.

    So just to confirm MS defender antivirus is included in MS server o/s free of cost whether they have defender for server plan 1/2 or NOT? IF yes is that good enough , compared to other vendors like Mcafee , Symantec etc? if someone wants advanced features like JIT , NW hardening , Adaptive APP etc they can go for PLAN 2.
