MDS fails to create website with error "no master data services instance section exists"

I installed SQL Server Developer Edition with Master Data Services. I turned on IIS Express with all of the MDS dependencies. When I open MDS Configuration Manager, it shows a green check mark for IIS, so it thinks IIS is configured properly. When I go to the Web Configuration page, select Default Web Site, create the site, associate it with the database, and click Apply, I get the error "no master data services instance section exists". However, I check in the Master Data Services directory under SQL Server, and the web site folder is not created... Screenshot 2023-04-06 103042

I'm running on Windows 10 Enterprise, build 19044.1586 Any idea what's going on?

Hi @Robson, James, You need check the IIS Express log files: Check the IIS Express log files for any errors or warnings related to the MDS website. The log files are typically located in the "C:\Users{username}\Documents\IISExpress\Logs" folder. Best regards, Seeya

@Seeya Xi-MSFT Thank you for the reply. The logs folder is where you said it should be, but the folder is empty. There are no logs.
