Since updating Visual Studio 2022 (CE) to version 17.5.3, syntax highlighting for typescript files has stopped working.

Does it occur in all projects or specific project? Are you using ReSharper?

Please try the following workarounds:

Disable all installed extensions under Extensions > Manage Extensions > Installed.
Go to Visual Studio Installer > Modify > add “Node.js development” workload.
Try to use ReSharper extension.

Hi, Anna, and thank you for the reply. In answer to your questions:

Yes, it happens with all projects

I removed all the extensions that I had installed myself and disabled the ones that were added by the installer. The problem persisted. I tried repairing the application installation from the installer, but still syntax highlighting doesn't work as it should. Parts of the page are correctly highlighted while in others the code is grayed or not correctly highlighted.

No, I do not have ReSharper installed

You can enter “devenv /ResetSettings” at Developer Command Prompt for VS 2022 to restore your Visual Studio default settings and check again. Besides, do you have the "Textmate Grammar Template" extension installed? If so, please enable it.

Unfortunately, this is still happening to me. I have v17.5.5 installed. The problem is exactly as described. The highlighting works for the top part of the file, but stops working halfway down. Seems pretty random where it stops working. It could be in the middle of a method or statement.

I'm having the same issue. Seems like it breaks when using typescript style casts <Type>variable I've filed feedback if you want to follow that. https://developercommunity.visualstudio.com/t/Typescript-syntax-highlighting-breaks-wh/10359956
