Hello everyone!

Well, I was trying to have one of my drive (drive D) to to be split into 2 . To do so, opened Disk Management and firstly I shrank the size and then created a simple volume, at last step I was asked the following:

"The operation you selected will convert the selected basic disk(s) to dynamic disk(s). If you convert the disk(s) to dynamic, you will not be able to start installed operation systems from any volume on the disk(s) (except the current boot volume). Are you sure you want to continue?"

Ignoring in a jiffy, I clicked yes.

Finally, when I restarted my laptop to my surprise it won't boot up. After BIOS screen it would stuck on a black screen with a blinking cursor (under score) on top left corner.

So I am in dire need right now if anybody could help me fix this issue as soon as possible.

Few details regarding the system:
Windows 7, 32 bit. On Dell Machine , windows came OEM installed. Thus, I don't have a CD/DVD.

How to fix boot issue as well as revert this dynamic disk to basic disk without the loss of data?

Thanks,

Himanshu

    Hi,
Firstly could you boot into Safe Mode and access into the drive to backup data?
Because you could not boot, so if we try to use dispart command to delete the volume and convert, the data may lose.
So maybe third party software should be an option. Some information in the link below:
