Group policy/IE trusted sites

Some months ago one of our admins (has since left) modified group policy preferences/registry to add a list of 20 trusted IE sites for users workstations. The users IE sites button is greyed out as it should be.

I went into group policy management editor on our main DC and added a registry key for a new trusted site (in this case google.com) for an existing IE workstation GPO.

I ran gpupdate/force on my workstation and noticed google.com was not added to the trusted sites. Back on the DC, I went into the windows registry and noticed that there was not a corresponding google.com key. I’m not sure if it’s supposed to be added manually or not. I created it manually, but google.com still does not show up in the trusted sites list.

I added it in the right location because the existing trusted sites in IE are also in the same registry location in the group policy management editor.

What am I missing that is not adding google.com to the users IE trusted site list?

    Hi,

I would recommend you try to configure the policy under not the registry :
Computer Configuration --- Administrative Tools --- Windows Components --- Internet Explorer --- Internet Control Panel --- Security Page and then double click to the "Site to zone assignment list".

Then the result will be :
