There is one Azure Virtual Machine which named with HZXXXXXXX. If I input the name to the search box in azure portal, it shows that the resources on the VM. For example, Disk, Network Interface, Virtual Machine.

My surprise is that there exists one resource which is the SQL Virtual Machine, but actually there is no any SQL Server service on the VM.

My question is, whether it will charge for SQL Virtual Machine service if there is no SQL Server service on the VM?

@WisonHii Billing will depend on the offer that is listed in the VM properties. You can review this on the VM overview page.

    Hello WisonHii

If there is no SQL Server service running on the Azure Virtual Machine, then you should not be charged for the SQL Virtual Machine service.

The SQL Virtual Machine resource in the Azure portal is a feature that allows you to create a SQL Server virtual machine image for use in Azure. This means that you can create an Azure Virtual Machine with SQL Server pre-installed and configured, which can save you time and effort when setting up a new SQL Server environment.

However, if you have not created a SQL Server virtual machine image, and there is no SQL Server service running on the Azure Virtual Machine, then you should not be charged for the SQL Virtual Machine service.

To verify the pricing, you can check the Azure pricing calculator: https://azure.microsoft.com/en-in/pricing/calculator/or the Azure portal pricing details for SQL Virtual Machine. If you are still unsure, you can contact Microsoft Azure support for further assistance.
