Hi, We make use a third party automated tools for applying Windows Server Patch. According to the report from the tool, Windows Update has been applied successfully. On the other hand, I was told to check each server to see whether update is correct.
May I ask

  1. Is it necessary to check each server ?
  2. How to check ? From Event Log?
  3. Which code should I look at if there is a failure ?
  4. Is there other things that I need to check ? Thanks

Hello Thank you for posting in our Q&A forum.

    1. If it is deployed uniformly through the update deployment tool, it is not necessary to check all servers, just random checks.
    2. Check the latest update log from Event Viewer > Application and Services Logs > Microsoft > Windows > WindowsUpdateClient > Operational.
    3. Check the EventID in the "Details" below the event viewer
    4. In addition to checking Event Viewer for exceptions, you can also check for pending updates and install the latest servicing stack updates. https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/troubleshoot/windows-server/deployment/troubleshoot-windows-server-update-guidance
