Hi As I now cannot use PowerShell 7 on the ISE I need to use VS Community edition (as vs code not permitted in my company) It's a nightmare of confusion & frustration.
I have installed the PowerShell extension but there is no syntax highlighting or intellisense. I've restarted but same. How do I tell the text editor/console to switch to PowerShell ? I've tried google & chatGPT but there is scant info on PowerShell for VS CE. also I get a pop up with the extension mentioning I need the full version to use powershell 7 & other features. I thought VS CE was a Microsoft product.
I'm confused s to why its not supporting PowerShell properly and asking for my credit card to use PowerShell. Surely the ability to write PowerShell 7 scripts should be within the operating system.

    Hi @Synthetic-Sentience

Welcome to Microsoft Q&A!  Which version of Visual Studio are you using? Do you mean the extension: PowerShell Tools for Visual Studio

I installed it on VS2022 Community version 17.5.3. The syntax highlighting and IntelliSense are working normally.

You can create other project types and check if it is working.

If it occurs in other project types, you can update your VS to the latest version and try to reset the vs settings

If it only occurs in PowerShell project, I suspect it is related to the extension: PowerShell Tools for Visual Studio. Please directly report it to the extension’s owner. Thanks for your understanding!

    Sincerely,

    Anna
