Why is my Microsoft OneNote deleting my files by default when the hard drive is healthy?

I finally ran through the setup for my Microsoft OneNote and within two-days it decides to delete files from a healthy hard drive when I did not change any of the settings. If this is a default setting then it needs to be changed and if it isn't a default setting then this issue needs to be addressed as this issue makes it a no brainer on using Google Drive over OneDrive all day every day. I am still trying to fix the software that Microsoft OneNote broke when it decided to move my software. I am an IT professional and it hasn't been a simple fix so far, so I can imagine how a person that isn't trained in IT would be feeling at this point.
