Why doesn't Outlook sort the departments correctly in the OAB?

All employees have an entry in the OAB which is managed via an Exchange Server, all are assigned to a department, in the address book there are beside the global also the different departments as subfolders, for one user the department had to be changed. We have looked to see if any incorrect entries were made but everything is entered correctly. After a week of waiting, hoping that it will update, it has not changed. But the user's department in the address book has been updated. The problem is that the user is not in the subfolder where he was assigned but he is still there where he was before. How do we solve the problem?

    Hi @VanilleTee ⠀ ,

“in the address book there are beside the global also the different departments as subfolders”

You mean that different departments correspond to different address lists, right? Could you remove all private information and share a screenshot of this?

Please clarify whether the update takes effect in OWA or Outlook online mode. If yes, it is recommended that you modify the local offline address book file suffix of the following path to .old, and then re-execute "Download Address Book" on the Outlook client to see if it works.

    C:\Users%username%\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Outlook\Offline Address Books

We found the problem: we looked at the user in the Active Directory, found the attribute "showInAddressBook" under the tab "Attribute Editor", apparently a member of our IT staff took the wrong user as a template for copying and therefore something was set incorrectly at this position.

    User's image

Instead of the OT there was the wrong department AK, of course we have changed this immediately as you can see on the screenshot.

Thank you very much for the effort and the help

    Have a nice day
