Understanding Azure Costs

Good Day

Do the costs listed for services include taxes and fees? I noticed at the end of the month the taxes are added to the invoice, which suggests that I'm not seeing any taxes or fees in cost management.

A P1V2 App Service Plan is $160.60 USD, but is it really $181.478 USD, assuming a 13 HST rate? Is there a way I can have cost management show me the taxes? If the cost shown for the services does not include + taxes, isn't that misleading?

I would assume a P1V2 at $160.60 USD to be taxes and fees included, otherwise it should tax something like: $160.60 USD + taxes. If I have this understanding incorrect, then why does my invoice have tax included that seems to be missing from cost management?

Thanks

    Hi @Andrew

The costs listed for Azure services do not include taxes and fees. Taxes and fees are added to the invoice at the end of the month and are based on the applicable tax laws in your region.

The cost management tool in Azure does not currently show taxes and fees separately. However, you can view the total cost of your services, including taxes and fees, in the Azure billing portal.

This is documented at What data is included in Cost Management and Billing?User's image

It is important to note that the tax rate may vary depending on your location and the type of service you are using. The tax rate may also change over time due to changes in tax laws or regulations.

While the cost management tool does not show taxes and fees separately, it is not necessarily misleading. The tool is designed to provide an estimate of your costs based on the usage of Azure services. The actual cost may vary depending on the applicable taxes and fees.

If you have any questions or concerns about your Azure costs, you can contact Azure support for assistance.
