Installing NFS-Service Fails: Pending Reboot, A device connected to the system is not functioning

Hey there, I have an issue with my Windows Server 2019 Std. I tried to install the NFS-Server role via Server Manager, but it failed. A restart is pending, and I should reboot the server. I have done that several times, but the status remains unchanged after each reboot. I checked the logs in the Event Viewer and found some issues in the System log: Event ID: 7001 "The service "Server for NFS-Open RPC-Portmapping (ONCRPC)" could not be started due to an error: A device connected to the system is not functioning." I can't find a malfunctioning device in the Device Manager, and the log files do not indicate which device could be defective. I need some advice how to solve this problem.

Hi, I'd be happy to help you out with your question. Sorry for the inconvenience caused. I understand how frustrating this can be, Based on the information you provided, I think there might be some underlying issues preventing the NFS-Server role from being installed correctly. Here are a few things that you can try to resolve the issue: Check if there are any pending updates waiting for installation. Install all pending updates and try installing the NFS-Server role again. Use the DISM tool to check and repair system files. This tool scans and fixes any issues with the system files. Try removing any previous failed installation attempts of the NFS-Server role. You can do this by opening Server Manager, selecting "Remove Roles and Features" from the "Manage" dropdown menu, and following the wizard to select the NFS-Server role to be removed. Disable any third-party antivirus or firewall temporarily and try installing the NFS-Server role again. If the role gets installed successfully, then you can enable the antivirus/firewall again. If none of the above steps work, you can try using the Server Manager command-line tool to install the NFS-Server role. This tool installs the NFS-Server role and its management tools. If you have any other questions or need assistance with anything, please don't hesitate to let me know. I'm here to help.
