Hello, I have a windows server 2012 with DNS and DHCP role. i have noticed that on my DNS record i only have one record by computer. But on my DHCP we have make reservation for the wifi and wired connection for some computer. I need to have multiple record on DNS server for the FSSO (fortigate Single Signe on) application. DNS and DHCP are on the same server. i have activate the Dynamics DNS update on DHCP. The issue is when people switch from wired to wirless connection they are identifed as guest on our firewall (because the wired connection is the only one we have on the DNS server). Did someone know what to verify or how to resolve this issue. Regards,

Hello there, Scavenging is the most common culprit when DNS records go missing from DNS zones. Even Windows-based computers that have statically assigned servers register their records every 24 hours. Verify that the NoRefresh and Refresh intervals are too low. Under the properties of the record Delete this record when it becomes stale, make sure it is not checked and the timestamp is blank. Scavenging works on timestamps, so any DNS record with a timestamp will get processed and possibly deleted. First check your server DNS records and make sure they are static. Cumulative list of reasons that cause DNS records to disappear from DNS zones https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/troubleshoot/windows-server/networking/dns-records-not-present Hope this resolves your Query !! --If the reply is helpful, please Upvote and Accept it as an answer--

Hello, I don't think the issue come frome scavenging. This rule are default (7 days). When i look on the dns i never see the record for the different connection (wired and wirless) for the computer. Buit in my DHCP (on the same server) i have the record for both connection. I have look for few days but my DNS record will not upate with both dhcp record. Regards,
