I have an Azure Virtual Desktop VM that is running on the Standard F8s v2 (8 vcpus, 16 GiB memory) SKU with the Windows (Windows 10 Enterprise) operating system. I am trying to install WSL2 on it and have followed the online documentation including:

  • Running wsl --install
  • Ensuring the Virtual Machine Platform feature is installed
  • Restarting many times
  • Confirming that my SKU is a valid SKU for nested virtualization Each time I launch the Ubuntu terminal, I get this error: Please enable the Virtual Machine Platform Windows feature and ensure virtualization is enabled in the BIOS. For information please visit https://aka.ms/enablevirtualization Any advice on what I could be missing?

@Anonymous Thanks for posting your query on Microsoft Q&A.

Please check this documentation and ensure that your chosen Azure VM size supports nested virtualization: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/virtual-machines/acu

The ones marked with *** are Hyper-threaded and capable of running nested virtualization. I am not seeing F8s in this document as supporting nested virtualization.

Please check and let me know in the comments. Thanks.
