Hi there, I'm considering using Azure Speech for a Speech Generating Device using SDK. We are particularly concerned about latency in generating synthesised speech since this would be used for conversational purposes.
- What is the average latency?
- for our work, we ideally require a lead time less than or equal to 1 second
- Can this be used offline, and if so, does this decrease the latency? Thank you!

As we known, an augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) device, is a tablet or laptop that helps someone with a speech or language impairment to communicate, does you mean just general device or is there any specific one you are mentioning?
