Hi @Patryk Michalak ,
When licensing SQL Server, you have two options:
Device CAL (Client Access License): This type of CAL licenses each device (computer, tablet, or any other device) that connects to SQL Server. It allows multiple users to access SQL Server from a single licensed device.
User CAL (Client Access License): This type of CAL licenses each individual user who directly or indirectly accesses SQL Server, regardless of the number of devices they use to connect to SQL Server.
Based on your scenario with 100 users accessing the application via HTTPS (browser) on your local LAN, you can choose either 100 User CALs or 100 Device CALs, depending on which licensing model makes more sense for your organization.
If you have a scenario where multiple users share devices to access the application, then Device CALs might be a better fit. However, if your users access the application from multiple devices (e.g., desktops, laptops, tablets, mobile phones) or if you have more users than devices, then User CALs might be more appropriate.
For detailed information about the license issue, you can call 1-800-426-9400, Monday through Friday, 6:00 A.M. to 6:00 P.M. (Pacific Time) to speak directly to a Microsoft licensing specialist. Or you can go to Volume Licensing Service Center support. Please choose region/language and choose to call or have web.
Best regards,
Seeya
