Good afternoon I have a problem with installing Microsoft Identity Manager 2016. The installation goes fine, but when the system tries to backup the encryption key, there is an error. Also, the Microsoft MIM KeyProtectService (MIMKeyProtectService) service does not start at all. image

    Hello

You don't have privilege. Just reinstall in admin mode : Run as admin

    Regards

The installation media for MIM is weird sometimes. I usually perform the installation by opening a Command Prompt or PowerShell as Administrator and then executing the MSI from there. That should make any privilege related errors go away. If you just double click the MSI you will run as a non-admin token user and any admin heavy tasks the installer undertakes will fail.

Please also make sure that your GMSA is installed on the system (Install-ADServiceaccount MIMGMSA) and that the computer account in question is a member of a group that has the rights to retrieve the GMSA password.
