Why the home user of Windows 10 bound to use complex password? There is nowhere it is possible to remove the password complexity. I installed gpedit.msc and changed the complex password settings to disable. Did gpupdate /force etc. Changed the password remember to 0, length to 0 etc.

Now what? I did everything to remove the password complexity but not able to!! Why so much trouble to an Microsoft Windows 10 home user?

Any other guide to remove the password from users login? He wanted to put blank password.

Hi,

The Group Policy Editor gpedit.msc is only available in Professional and Enterprise editions of the Windows 10 operating systems.
The editor is not included in Windows 10 Home.

You could use WinKey + R, then type in --> netplwiz

Then uncheck "User must enter a user name and password to use this computer"

Hi JennyFeng,

I already checked the netplwiz window, and it has no such option "User must enter a user name and password to use this computer" available.

Hi,
Try to use the registry editor. Win+R type in regedit
When the Editor opens, head to the following path by clicking on the directories in the left-hand side pane.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon
Once you are at the given path, find the following three items and change their values as described below.

AutoAdminLogon - this must be set to 1.
DefaultPassword - this should have your account's password.
DefaultUserName - this should have the username of your account.

Save the values and close the Registry Editor.

Hi JennyFeng,

Thanks and that is quite interesting. I entered all the value (the DefaultPassword option not there so I created a new String value and entered the password) and restart the PC. But it come to the user login window again!

I feel, this system might required windows update then all those options could appear.

Hi,

It might be difficult if installing with a Microsoft Account rather than a Local Account. Either type account can be set as having Administrative Rights, actually need at least one set that way, lets one manage other things such as additional users.

So I think the best option is switching from Microsoft account to local, then set up the local account without a password.

Thank you for your reply. I returned the laptop to the user yesterday with a sad face, showing my inability to solve it!!

The laptop has only one local account with administrator right since windows installed. (The default administrator is disabled) The request came to remove the password and I failed to do so :( I do not test with a new user account because the user not ready to change profile because lot of files and folders.

Anyway, I told to update the windows and lets see if those options will appear, so user himself able to change the password to none.

gpedit.msc can be installed manually via dism.

No, it's a HOME edition of Windows 10 (for home user)
