running queries against msdb and Reportserver repository.

hi Folks,

One of our application developer wants to run queries against msdb and reportserver database using linked server. is it advisable to run query against msdb and reportserver databases using linked server? can someone give me cons of doing this?

    I can't really see any issues if you set up the linked server with self-mapping. That is, to be able run these queries, he needs to have permissions in msdb and the ReportServer database when he logs in directly. Using a linked server with self-mapping.

    If the developer does not have permission and hope that you will set up a linked server with login-mapping - just say no.
