MECM v2111

Why with the synchronization Microsoft SUP Catalog of March / April, all the Feature Update for Windows 11 22H2 have been superseded by a single Feature Update that contains all languages ?

Is there a particular motivation ?

-"Windows 11, version 22H2 x64 2023-04B"

-"Windows 11, version 22H2 arm64 2023-04B"

We would like to avoid sending many gigabytes of data (operating system language) to distribution points located in areas where we know they use only one language for the operating system.

Thanks for the support and suggestions.

    Hi @Vid3al

1, According to your description, you want to deploy Windows 11, version 22H2 Feature Update with different language for you client, right?

According to my research, these different languages feature updates have been uniformly replaced by “Windows 11, version 22H2 x64 2023-04B“and “Windows 11, version 22H2 arm64 2023-04B”. This may be similar to Unified Update Platform (UUP).

2, For your situation, please help check if these different language feature updates are shown “Required” for you client in the SCCM console. If so, it is recommended that you deploy these updates for your operating system.

    Hi,

I'd be happy to help you out with your question. Sorry for the inconvenience caused.

Microsoft has released a superseding update that includes all language versions of the operating system. This means that instead of downloading and deploying multiple language versions separately, you can now download and deploy a single update that contains all languages.

The motivation behind this is to simplify the update process and ensure that all devices are running the latest version of the operating system. By including all languages in a single package, Microsoft can also ensure that all devices have access to all language versions of the operating system, even if they are located in areas where only one language is commonly used.

If you have distribution points located in areas where only one language is used for the operating system, you may want to consider using a language pack removal tool to remove any unnecessary language packs from the update package before deploying it. This can help reduce the size of the update package and minimize the amount of data that needs to be transferred to the distribution point.
