In know one of the requirements to use Direct Send is that you need a licensed mailbox. Can you use a shared mailbox and enabled the associated account so you do not have to use a license?

    Hi @rr-4098 ,

In know one of the requirements to use Direct Send is that you need a licensed mailbox.

Are you talking about the "Direct Send" used to send mails from printer or application? If yes, actually according to the official document below, it doesn't require a licensed mailbox:
Option 2: Send mail directly from your printer or application to Microsoft 365 or Office 365 (direct send)

No, that's against the license agreement/terms of usage. Any form of direct login to a shared mailbox is not allowed. You can however use this method with Send As permissions granted to a user with licensed mailbox.

Thank you for the great feedback. I looks like I need to use option 1 since I need to be able to send outside my organization.
