Using desktop Win11 22h2. Tablet mode seems to be taking over and changing the way I work even though I have a desktop. It seems MS is merging the 2. And failing. How can I set Windows 11 so it is just a desktop and disable and/or remove the tablet? In desktop mode I am still getting silly screen resizes if I move a window to close to the edge of the screen. Then there is this silly popup that occurs at the top of the screen which I do not want. And now there are silly mouse move changes that occur that didnt before. How do I just have a desktop and remove tablet?

Open Settings , click or tap System.

    1. In the System screen, on the left of the screen, scroll down to and click or tap Tablet Mode.
    2. On the right side of the screen, under Make Windows more touch-friendly when using you device as a tablet, click to move the slider to Off.

Prior to Windows 11 22H2 an option in Settings / System existed turning Tablet Mode on off. I do not see it in 22H. It appears to have been 'folded' into several other Settings options. After reviewing a number Settings options I found the following works for me to have 'just a desktop'.

    • System / Multitasking snap windows OFF
    • Personalization / Taskbar task view OFF
    • Personalization / Taskbar / System tray icons OFF and/or NEVER

    and possibly a few others.

What I also found helpful when going to 22H was that the mouse/keyboard software got 'stale'. Installing the latest update helped.

    Hello there,

As per Microsoft, Tablet mode in Windows 11 is removed and new functionality and capability are included for keyboard attach and detach postures.

So to turn off Tablet mode, physically convert the tablet back into a laptop by reattaching the keyboard or rotating the screen back into a laptop orientation.

But in your case, you can do this by editing the registry but make sure you have created a restore point or backup of the registry.

-Navigate to the following key in the Registry Editor:

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\ImmersiveShell

-In the right pane, you should see a DWORD value named TabletMode. In order to turn off tablet mode, double-click on TabletMode and set it to 0. Or set it to 1 if you want to turn on tablet mode.

Hope this resolves your Query !!
