SSAS Other Presentation Tool

Hi,

I have a sql enterprise 2014 with SSIS, SSAS, SSAS Tabular & Powerbi

Powerbi is used more for gaphical view of cubes, with olap presnted in excel

Mostly finance users so they love their excel but i have other business units who would like more analytics

1. is there other options to present ssas cube but not excel & powerbi?
2. I thought of olap online or in cloud?
3. More self service tool, connecto to dw and users drag and drop their dim etc

Please help, i need to evolve and data storage to azure is not an option

Hi @IC IC ,

How do i try synapse with on prem data warehouse?

There are many ways to achieve that:
From ADLS
Using ADB
Using ADF
Using SSIS

Note:
You can use SSMS to connect to the Azure Data Warehouse(ADW). ADW doesn't support import data from flat file directly. If you want migrate the data from on-premise data warehouse, you can use Azure Data Factory, see: connector-azure-sql-data-warehouse

Can i push only the modal data to azure, do i need an account?

Yes. You can.

I'm trying to bridge the gap between excel olap finance users and powerbi, analtical tool on top of olap or onto data warehouse
Excel Olap > ? > Powerbi or even on top of powerbi

They are don't conflict, olap means online analytical processing, so itself includes online, and you can also use olap in cloud.Which one is better, it decided by your own situation.

Consider OLAP in the following scenarios:

You need to execute complex analytical and ad hoc queries rapidly, without negatively affecting your OLTP systems.
You want to provide business users with a simple way to generate reports from your data
You want to provide a number of aggregations that will allow users to get fast, consistent results.
...

OLAP in Azure

In Azure, all of the following data stores will meet the core requirements for OLAP:

SQL Server with Columnstore indexes
Azure Analysis Services
SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS)
...

SSRS,QLik are all can achieve that, and they are all support mobile clients.

I can do minimum in azure as i cant more my data storgae to azure due to corp hosting its own data center in 2 years time.

OLAP works, but execs tired of excel and want to do do data mining which is not available for end users?
