Could you please check the Office version name via going to
Word > File > Account > Product Information?
Will the folders not respond if you open other Office files, such as Excel workbooks?
Is there any error message if Word can not open documents?
If so, please share with us for better analysis.
- It's recommended to go to
Word > Options > Add-ins > Manage COM Add-ins > Go, clear the check boxes for any enabled COM add-ins, select OK.
- Please try to open Word first, and then browse the document to open for a test.
- I suggest you check the default app for .docx and .doc files is Word. To do it, you may go to Windows Settings > Apps > Deafult Apps > Scroll down and select 'Choose default apps by file type'.
- If nothing helps, I also suggest you perform an Online Repair for Office from Control Panel.
