Hi all,

the problem with mutliple shortcuts on Desktop after deploying PWA's over group policy
(Configure List of forced-installed web apps) should be resolved.
https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/answers/questions/1161988/gpo-edge-configure-list-of-forced-installed-web-ap
BUT
we now have the same problem within the Startmenu-Folder.
"..\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs"
Everytime edge closes, a new shortcut will pushed ("Shortcut (1).lnk" - "Shortcut (2").lnk" and so on...)
Already testet in new Version 112.0.1722.68 (stable) and 112.0.1722.64 (extended).

Can anybody confirm this? Any ideas?

Thank you and best regards,
Thomas

    Hello there,

If you set "create_desktop_shortcut": true, this policy will create a desktop shortcut immediately after you apply it. Then, every time you open a new Edge session (including the web app window, and make sure there's no existing Edge session), you'll have a new shortcut copy.

I have a workaround for you to avoid redundant shortcuts being created. You need to delete "create_desktop_shortcut": true or change its value into false after the original shortcut was created. Then, no redundant shortcuts will be created.

    Hi @Thomas,

Thank you for your further information. I just tested your sample policy value but unfortunately no such issue is spotted here. I think this issue is related to the Kiosk mode (Multi-App) environment. You can report this issue to the Dev Team by pressing Alt+Shift+I so that the Team can look into it.

Before the issue is resolved, you can rollback to Edge 108 as a temporary workaround. Thank you for your understanding.

Seems to be fixed again in new Version 112.0.1722.71: May 4, 2023 (extended stable channel).
I will test it on some more machines.
Thank you all for your response.
