Canonical has released a module to support Azure AD authentication module for Ubuntu users to sign in an Ubuntu physical machine using Azure Active Directory credentials. Is this been tested and any official microsoft article or blog about this? Is there any official support or roadmap to support Ubuntu users to sign in an Ubuntu physical machine using Azure Active Directory? We have already implemented intune portal app for users to access internal resources but would like to migrate from using on prem AD to Azure AD authentication.https://github.com/ubuntu/aad-auth

    Hi Vigneshwaran

As of my knowledge cutoff in September 2021, Microsoft has been working on expanding Azure Active Directory (Azure AD) authentication capabilities to support a wider range of platforms and devices. While I cannot provide real-time information or details about specific releases or support for Ubuntu users to sign in to an Ubuntu physical machine using Azure AD credentials, but lets see some general insights.

Microsoft has been actively collaborating with various partners and the open-source community to enable Azure AD integration with different platforms and operating systems. Ubuntu, being a popular Linux distribution, has received attention in this context.

The GitHub repository you mentioned (https://github.com/ubuntu/aad-auth) appears to be an initiative by Canonical, the company behind Ubuntu, to provide Azure AD authentication support for Ubuntu users. The repository may contain code, instructions, and documentation related to this integration.

To obtain the most up-to-date information, official announcements, and support details regarding Azure AD authentication support for Ubuntu, I recommend checking the following resources:

Microsoft Documentation: Visit the official Microsoft documentation, specifically the Azure Active Directory documentation section, to find information about supported platforms and authentication methods.

Microsoft Azure Blog: Keep an eye on the Microsoft Azure Blog for updates, announcements, and feature releases related to Azure AD authentication and integration with different platforms.

Ubuntu and Canonical Resources: Check the Ubuntu and Canonical websites, forums, or blogs for any official announcements or documentation related to Azure AD integration and authentication support.

Microsoft Support: If you have an Azure AD subscription or support plan, you can reach out to Microsoft Support for specific inquiries and guidance regarding Azure AD authentication support for Ubuntu.

Remember that the availability of Azure AD authentication support for Ubuntu or any other platform may vary over time. It's always best to refer to official documentation, announcements, and support channels for the most accurate and up-to-date information regarding platform support and integration with Azure AD.
