Why is Excel for Mac completely changing my numbers or adds decimal with additional 00.

I am using Excel on my Macbook Pro.

I put in the simple number 192.10 and it changes to 192.10.10. If I change it to Currency it changes to IDR8,045. I change the currency to USD$ however it will not change back to the original numbers that I typed in.

It continues to revert to the extra zeros and move to IDR currency even when I change it to USD currency.

I have tried everything that is obvious including making a new workbook but it follows to the new workbook. It is doing it only to certain cells not to all the cells, the other cells remain as currency with the number that I typed in the cell.

Any help would be great.

It sounds like Excel may be interpreting the numbers you entered as a date or time format. One possible solution is to format the cells as "General" or "Number" instead of "Currency" or "Accounting." You can do this by selecting the cells you want to format, then right-clicking and selecting "Format Cells." In the "Number" tab, choose "General" or "Number" and click "OK." This should display the numbers as you entered them without any extra decimals or currency symbols.

If this does not solve the issue, you can try resetting the Excel preferences by deleting the com.microsoft.Excel.plist file from the ~/Library/Preferences folder. To do this, go to Finder, select "Go" from the top menu bar, and choose "Go to Folder." Then type in ~/Library/Preferences and hit enter. Find the com.microsoft.Excel.plist file and drag it to the trash. Restart Excel and see if the issue persists.

If none of these solutions work, it may be worth reaching out to Microsoft support for further assistance.

    Hi,

As m7md2002 said above, I also think that resetting Excel preferences should be the way to go.

To do that, close Excel and then hold down the "Option" key while opening Excel. Choose "Reset Preferences" when prompted.

    Best Regards.
