error 78186 the process server may be shutdown or not running

for some reason, the process server keeps on stating a critical state. this is because the service cxpsprocess keeps on turning off. Connection to Azure is healthy. on-prem connectivity between source servers and process/configuration server is confirmed. I confirmed that ASR unifies agent is higher than 9.24 (using 9.52). Windows Server 2016 is fully up-to-date.
Updating the agent fixed everything for one day only.
Any advise?
