Error message "Another account from your organisation is already signed in on this device. Try again with a different account."

Question

When accessing Microsoft Office products I am being asked to login. When I put my work email address in it tells me that another account from my organisation is already signed in on this device"

I'm on a Mac and I have tried deleting all reference to Microsoft or MS in KeyChain App but still can't get in. Microsoft Outlook is ok as is Teams.

The detailed error message I get is as below:

If you are using Microsoft 365 office, firstly go to File >> Account and update Office to the latest.

If the issue still persists, use this tool: https://office-reset.com and select the following option :

Hi,

I suggest you check with your IT department and find out who else had your Mac and logged in with your machine. Your Mac apparently was used by someone else at some point, was logged in, and was not signed out.
