Monitor VMware ESXi with SCOM

is there a free community-management-pack available for monitoring small VMware ESXi-environments (1-2 hosts for testing)?

we already found one community-MP:

https://github.com/Mitch-Luedy/Community.VMware

but this MP is already 9 years old and i'm not sure, if it will work on newer scom-installations?

    Hi Sandro (Sandro D'Incà),

    I would not recommend you using this particualr MP as it is know to cause some major performance issues.

    Unfortunately there isn't any other free alternative to that. I have seen many just doing some custom monitoring, discovering ESX hosts as netwok devices or sending SNMP traps from VMWare to SCOM, but all of those are pretty much just workarounds.

    If you need proper monitoring of VMWare then the MPs Xin referenced are the way to go. You will have to pay for them, but if you have a small environment, the cossts should be bearable.
