Microsoft Access built-in functions

I have been trying to use the Date() function in Microsoft Access, but this function is not in my built-in function list. There are calculations that I can't do in my DB because I do not have access to this function. I have tried to repair Access and deleted and reinstalled it, but this did not get me access to these functions. Is there a patch for this?
