Within one M365 group - should regional settings between the parent site and channel site synchronize automatically?

I found this:

When a private channel is created, it inherits settings from the parent team, after which its settings can be changed independently of the parent team settings.

But it's not the behaviour that I am seeing in our tenants

By default, regional settings are same in both parent channel and private channel if they are created by users in the same time zone.

To change regional settings for channels, you cannot change it in Teams, it should be changed in the corresponding SharePoint site.

1.Go to the site collection corresponding to the parent channel -> Site settings -> Regional settings.

2.Go to the private channel in Teams -> Open in SharePoint -> Site settings -> Regional settings.
