i backed up the accounts from the Authenticator App
reset my phone
then reinstalled everything and recovered the accounts
accounts for microsoft github google paypal etc
the problem is except for my microsoft accounts which send a notification to for approval only to confirm logins
every other account i use a otp for like github or paypal doesn't accept the otp and tells me it's wrong even after i remove the account and trying to set the 2fa for the service again (github or any other) still doesn't accept the otp and tells me the code does not match
what might be the problem and how to fix it?!

Ok, then the simplest method would be to logon to service provider, turn off two-factor, confirm that it works! then remove the account from the device, then you can follow the service prover's instruction to add two-factor to the account.

yes that's exactly what i did but still whatever service i try this on be github paypal epicgames etc it keep telling me the code don't match when i try and enter it
i even waited for an hour tried again waited for the otp itself to change like 5 or 7 times the same thing
don't know if this relevant or not but i use the app on unlocked android phone with custom rom also my banking apps work fine
I'd make sure the clock on device is correct.
thanks that was it i changed the clock manually +1 hour because of daylight saving the custom rom doesn't support it by default

This may have been fatal. The only method now is to use the service provider's methods of account recovery.

i didn't lose access to my accounts (i can still access the account by sending the otp via sms or email)
my problem is that i can't do it using the code from the Microsoft Authenticator App (keep telling me the code does not match) even after i disabled 2fa fully from the account and try to enable it using the app it keep telling me the same thing the code does not match
