Background

I'm trying to run a script as userData input when create a VM, it works on Linux (there're logs on the machine) but not works on Windows. So I need to find the logs of userData to debug the script on Window, but I can't find any related doc about it except the API.

Where can we find the logs for userData on a Windows VM in Azure?

  • Specifically not referring to custom data.
  • Want to know the folder location as we prefer not to rely on the API. I can find the result of userData on Linux Vm but not work on Windows, the doc doesn't mention it, where's the location of logs userData, how can find the userData after login in VM.

    Hello there,

You can access the activity log from most menus in the Azure portal. The menu that you open it from determines its initial filter. If you open it from the Monitor menu, the only filter is on the subscription. If you open it from a resource's menu, the filter is set to that resource.

Hope this resolves your Query !!
