how to fix rdp when it is only a blank screen

I downloaded a programme on Friday night and then worked with the programme for hour+, on Saturday morning when logging on I could only get a black screen. how do I fix this.

    Hello @John 

    Using the command query user /server:<servername>to check if Remote Desktop Services running on the server.

    The new program may interfere with the Remote Desktop connection. Is it possible you could uninstalling the program locally ? or restart the remote desktop service locally ?

    Or you may try connecting to the server using a different Remote Desktop client or protocol.
