To force Internet Explorer (IE) to download files instead of opening them, you can enable "Automatic prompting for file downloads" as follow:

    1. Open Internet Explorer on the Windows 10 machine.
    2. Click on the gear icon in the top-right corner to open the Tools menu.
    3. Select "Internet Options" from the dropdown menu. A new window will open.
    4. In the Internet Options window, navigate to the "Security" tab.
    5. Within the Security tab, select the "Internet" zone and click on the "Custom level..." button.
    6. A list of security settings will appear. Scroll down until you find the "Downloads" section.
    7. Find the option labelled "Automatic prompting for file downloads" and set it to "Enable."
    8. Scroll down further until you find the "File Download" option.

Set the "File Download" option to "Enable."

    1. Click "OK" to save the changes and close the window.
    2. Restart Internet Explorer for the changes to take effect.

Once you have completed these steps, Internet Explorer should prompt the user to download the XLSX file instead of automatically opening it.
