How to fix Microsoft Edge

I tried to move Microsoft Edge with a 3rd party tool. Ever since then Edge hasn't been working. It opens the Edge window but can't open any web pages. It displays the error message "This page is having a problem".

I also get several notifications saying that the Add In or Extension has crashed.

I am also noticing that many Windows Apps are failing with the notifications. I guess those Windows Apps use the Edge core. Two such apps are the Facebook app and Instagram app.

Hi @Fred Schmid,

Try to repair the Microsoft Edge and check if this work for you, just refer these steps below:

Search and open the Control Panel .
Navigate to Programs -> Programs and Features. Or you can go directly by path: Control Panel\Programs\Programs and Features.
Find the Microsoft Edge and right click to Change and then Repair.

No, this did not fix the problem. I still get the same errors. Even the Settings page and Bookmark manager page have the same error.

Well, if this is the case, I think this problem may be related to the third-party tools you have used, please refer to the troubleshooting methods in this document.

If this still not working, please try to reinstall Microsoft Edge and check if this work for you, download and install from this link: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/edge/download.

Following the this document did not fix the problem so I download and install from that link. That did not fix the problem either.

Then I noticed there was a new beta version Microsoft Edge Dev so I installed that. That version is working.

Hi @Fred Schmid,

Ok, because I'm not sure what specific modifications have been made to the third-party tools you mentioned, but if using Edge Dev can meet your needs, then this can be used as an alternative. And wait for the update to check if this fixes the problem.

64 bit operating system. Several other Windows apps are not working, one that I tried moving to another drive with a third party tool. Never again.

A work around was to install Windows Edge Dev. This works.

But the Windows App still do not work. (Facebook and Instagram) I tried reinstalling Facebook and it still does not work.
