Hi!

I have made changes on registry to call a certain app.

I added it on registry path below.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run

It was working as expected while I was on Windows 10.

However, when I updated to Windows 11 via Windows Update, the app is no longer called.

When I checked the registry, the modification I did were gone.

Why did the update delete my modification? Is there a way to retain it even after the update without reinstalling it after the update?

Thank you very much in advance.

    Hello PleaseBeKindToMe,

Thank you for your question and for reaching out with your question today.

When upgrading to Windows 11, only recognised registry entries will be retained and any unrecognised modifications will be lost. Hence why your registry modification was not retained through the upgrade process. There is no way to retain these changes through the upgrade process and they will need to be redone after the upgrade is complete.
