I'm very curious if MS designs Teams or if it's just the result of engineers pushing code without any design input or consultation. Feedback is absolutely not design.

That's so sad. Honestly I don't believe you. That or nobody listens to them, which goes back to this being sad.
Why is it so bad and dysfunctional then? Why is it universally criticized for making work more difficult instead of more efficient? Do they listen to the designers? I struggle to understand why any talented designer would design something so convoluted, obtuse, alienating and then never suggest updates for years? Something doesn't add up.
