I have gone through many troubleshooters and it ends up being one after the next. I haven't been able to update my pc since going to college about 8 months ago and I'm finally home, and I still can't fix the issue. I get no problems with the windows update troubleshooter, so i checked the internet connections troubleshooter and I get error code 0x8007042 on top of the windows update error - 0xc8000fa
The wifi connection also says I have full bars, but under task manager I get < 1 mbps, but the wifi actively works on both my phone and ps5

In the Services manager, locate Network List Service. Right-click it and choose Restart.
you should also make sure that all of the following services are running:
BitLocker Drive Encryption Service
DCOM Server Process Launcher
Network Connections
Windows Defender Firewall
that fixed my firewall update, but that windows update itself is still getting a 0xc80003fa error code
