Web client: escape key intercepted by web browser instead of being sent to remote desktop

I'm connecting to AVD with the web client using Raspbian Linux running on a Raspberry Pi 4, using the Chromium browser (version 92.0.4515.98). It mostly works okay, with some minor issues. But one significant issue that really disrupts one's workflow is that pressing the Escape (Esc) key causes the full-screen session to drop back to windowed mode, instead of the key being sent to the active remote session where I want it to be seen.

Is there a setting, or maybe a different key sequence to use instead of Esc, to get this to work? Obviously I'd much prefer for the Esc key to just do the right thing and not change the full-screen mode I'm working in, but any reasonable work-around would be welcome too.
