I have applied unlocked time based retention policy for the container. Why blocked blobs inside the container not disappearing after retention period expired

I have applied 1 day of unlocked time based retention period to the container.

Under data protection I have enable soft delete for blobs to 1 day and Enable permanent delete for soft deleted items to yes.

why blobs are not disappearing from the container on their own. Without applying external deletion does the blob disappear from the container on their own when the retention period expires?

My requirement is to blobs should be deleted on their own when the retention period expires.

Please help me on this.

To expire data based on age, you will have to setup a lifecycle management policy as described in this article - https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/virtual-network/ip-services/configure-routing-preference-virtual-machine-cli#create-a-public-ip-address

Soft Delete feature is intended to protect from accidental deletes and overwrites. It cannot be used to delete blobs automatically. More details can be found here - https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/storage/blobs/soft-delete-blob-overview
