Hello everyone! . I am a total noob, so I appreciate any feedback!

i had a dell laptop that was too old to be repaired, but a "friend" of mine who is good at computers, offered to fix it and give me a basic computer to use temporary while he fixes it. I had some strange suspicions about my devices being remotely accessed, so I started trying to educate myself by researching things like LAN, network grouping (turns out this computer was set up as a work group, which upon research I discovered can monitor things without the need of consent or password)

This person has stopped responding to my texts or phone calls, even after I was begging him to give me back my computer..

Also, all of a sudden my admin name which is password-protected on the computer was receiving notices that I did not have permission to access even basic files. I would click on the security tab, and then another pop-up would happen stating the same thing.

After running diagnostics, the outcome was that the memory was almost completely full, so then I began deleting files in safe mode. Any recent updates, empty folders, and uninstalling apps that I didn't recognize or use (by the way, I made sure to keep files that are important for the system to remain hidden so that I didn't accidentally delete some thing very important, as well as cross referencing by researching about these files before deleting them)

Unfortunately when I rebooted the system in order for my actions to take effect, the computer forced me to update, so virtually, I gathered back all the updates I had deleted. Then I started to sacrifice photos and programs that I had installed myself. This deleted one GB of space and things were functioning "normally", as in the computer was no longer crashing, but I still was receiving these security refusal permission pop-ups.

I installed some kind of program manager, or some thing of that nature (it checks files, and gives you reports on your network, etc). Apologies that I can't remember the name, because I can no longer find this program. It led me to looking at other user accounts for the computer, immediately recognized one I had not previously seen when I had checked this folder in the past. I do remember this account looked at something like: IIS_APPPOOL CLASSIC.NET. I didn't know what it meant so I researched online and discovered I can go to start menu, run, and type in INETMGR.MSC to get a list of the apppools, BUT WHEN I SEARCHED FOR IT, a pop-up says Windows cannot find it, and to make sure I typed it correctly and try again. But I wanted to delete itbut I don't know if it might be some thing that helps the computer function! I must have clicked to go back to the previous version of the computer and that to happen at restart.

Only, I didn't not willfully restart. I left to go make something to eat and when I came back, I had to boot windows normally from the black-and-white screen and now I have chrome and Internet explorer back on the computer, which I took both off before (well attended with explore, but found out you cannot delete everything, but chrome for sure).

I do remember this account looked at something like: IIS_APPPOOL CLASSIC.NET. I didn't know what it was so I clicked to "learn more". This is where I found out I can go to run , under the start menu and type in INETMGR.MSC to get a list of these. BUT WHEN I SEARCHED FOR IT, a pop-up says Windows cannot find it, and to make sure I typed it correctly and try again. I wanted to delete the user, but I don't know if it might be some thing that helps the computer function!

If you've stayed with me this long, you're a dang angel sent from Heaven!

so basically, there's a multitude of things someone can assist me with. Anything from which apps in folders to delete, privacy and security, how to get my admin settings, back, and this apppool biz. I am trying as much as I can to learn new things and educate myself, but some of these matters are far beyond my scope. I appreciate any feedback, thank you all. Have a great day !

a.m.

p.s. Sorry about the hashtag. It literally wouldn't let me proceed unless I chose one and it honestly gave me three options for hashtags total, so I picked the one that at least said a word that I'm using in post smh
