SharePoint Site Storage limit threshold unknown when Automatic

Hi Microsoft community,

In the SharePoint Admin centre, under the Settings, the Site storage limit offers 2 options to pick from:

  • Automatic
  • Manual

When set to Manual, you can control:

  • the quota per site (e.g. 1024 GB), and
  • if alerts are to be sent (a tick-box), and
  • the alerting threshold (e.g. 98%) to trigger the 'Approaching SharePoint Site Storage Limit' email.

When set to Automatic, SharePoint does all of this for you:

  • allowing every site to use as much storage as possibly can until running out of said storage, and
  • sending alerts

But what I cannot find anywhere in the documentation or in the SharePoint Admin Centre the applied threshold when set to Automatic.

Has anyone found this information ?

    Here are the steps to set site storage limit to Automatic:

    1, Go to Settings in the SharePoint admin center, and sign in as a SharePoint admin or global admin.

    2, Click on “Site storage limits” ->set site storage limit to Automatic.

    Thanks for taking the time to reply.

    Unfortunately, I don't think you are answering my question: I'm not asking how to set the limit; this I already know.

    I'd like to know the alerting threshold that will trigger the 'Approaching SharePoint Site Storage Limit' email when set to Automatic; is that 90%, 95%, 98%; what is the value?
