Anyone out there have experience with User Profile Central from Ehlertech for user profile copying??
According to their homepage you can backup/restore user profiles from any remote PC over LAN

We spend quite a lot of time with every PC replacement, setting up the user, copying over things, making sure they do not loose anything they stored in some odd place.

Also it would be great to be able to offer to move settings, browser favorites, desktop etc.

I have looked around and seen some recommend this software but I would love a more first hand impression from some of you using it.

We use User Profile Central (nickname here is UPC) and has for three years now.

Not much to say really because UPC is super simple to set up and to use.
UPC lists all PCs on your network and you simply select the one in question, select the user or users, and click backup.
Same goes when restoring a profile to the users new PC.
Note - Preferably restore the profile prior to the user logging in first time.

UPC keeps evolving and, in the latest edition, has the capability of creating a snapshot over LAN.

So apart from backing up the user profiles on a PC, we often grab a snap of the whole drive if it's a specially important management or research PC.

    • Makes it possible to go back finding data even after the old PC is ditched.
