Neue SQL 2016 Instance mit WS2022

Hallo,

wir haben einen Windowsserver 2016, wodrau einen SQL Server 2016 installiert ist, und verscheidene Applikationen bedient.

Wir möchten eine neue zusätzliche SQL Instance auf dem aktuellen SQL-Server für eine neue Applikation erstellen .Die Applikation wird aber auf einen anderen Server installiert.

Die Frage wäre:

Darf der neue Server, für die neue Applikation, Windows Server 2022 sein?

sorry, I didn't pay attention to the language.

The reason for WS2022 is that the network is scheduled to be upgraded to WS2022. So we want the new installed server to be already WS2022

OK, so I guess the question is: "Is it supported running SQL 2016 on WIndows Server 2022?" I don't know on the top of my head, but since SQL 2016 probably was out of mainstream support when WS 2022 was released, I suspect the answer is no. You may be able to install and run it, but, supported, no.

Then again, why would you make a new installation for a new application of a version of SQL Server that is out of support? Why not SQL 2019 or SQL 2022?

thanks for the Answers.

The new Server will use the SQL-Instance only remotly, the SQL will not installed on the WS2022 directly.

I have gelesen that WS2022 not supprted SQL2016.

Therefore the Question is, if is it possible to use an SQL-Instance 2016 remotly with WS2022, if that gut works?

The SQL-Upgrade is in Plan for the nexht Year because of Licsnce Costs.

Yeah, that is no issue. SQL Server does not care about OS the client runs on. (Well, almost. If would try to connect with a client running on, say, Windows NT4, you are likely to get problems because of TLS and things like that. But there are no such obstacles in the combo WS2022 and SQL Server 2016.)
