How to sign USB certified drivers if there is a change in Product ID (PID)

I am trying to get a "USB to UART Bridge" driver signed; I´m using a "base" driver from Silabs (Cp210x VCP -virtual com port driver-), from which I customize Product ID (PID) to match the one that Silabs assigned to me. But the driver is, in essence, the same one Silabs already certified and signed once.

Is is mandatory that I do the whole signing process (install Windows HLK, make all the tests, submit to microsoft...) or, regarding that the base driver is already approved, can I take a shorter path to get the customized driver signed?

Thanks
