How can I as a parent control Screen Time on my child's Intune-enrolled iOS device from my own iPhone?

I would like to control my child's screen time on his Intune-enrolled school iPad (where he is logged on with his school Apple ID) from my own iOS device, in the same way I am able to do this with his private iPhone (and his private Apple ID), but it seems this is not possible.

When I try to enroll my child's school Apple ID in our own Family Group in order to be able to set screen time from my own device, there is an error message saying that this is not possible.

We have been using Apple's Screen Time restrictions and Family features successfully for some time on our private iPhones/iPads (where we all use our private Apple IDs), however, with the school iPad (which has no Screen Time restrictions enabled by default), the child has unrestricted screen time and access to the internet (also during times when the child is not in school).

We have considered enabling screen time without adding the account to our family group (this can be done using a local PIN on the child's device), however this solution has the drawback in that ad-hoc exceptions to the configured restrictions can only be made by typing in the parent's PIN on the child's device, not from remote.

Another option I have considered, but not yet tried (and therefore not sure it will work), is logging in with the child's school Apple ID on a second device (e.g. old iPhone) that I can carry with me. This would require me to know the password to the child's school Apple ID though.

What other options are there?

@Mats Thanks for posting in our Q&A.

For this issue, if your child's iOS device is already enrolled to his school, this device can't be also enrolled to your family. This device is managed by his school.

Currently, intune only provides "Block Screen time" setting in ADE(supervised) device.

    https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/mem/intune/configuration/device-restrictions-ios#settings-apply-to-device-enrollment-and-automated-device-enrollment-supervised-2

    Hope it will clarify something.
